Alexander Wladimirowitsch Rogoschkin ( Russian Александр Владимирович Рогожкин ; born October 3, 1949 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian film director and screenwriter.

life and work

Rogoschkin first began studying art history at the State University of Saint Petersburg , which he completed in 1972 with a diploma. From 1971 he worked as artistic director for Leningrad television, followed by three years (1974 to 1977) as a set designer in the Lenfilm studios. He also studied painting and graphics at the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. In 1982 he graduated from the Moscow Film School (WGIK) with Sergei Gerasimow .

In 1985 he made his feature film debut with Just because of a few lines , but it wasn't until the mid-1990s that he gained recognition in his home country with films such as the comedy The Peculiarities of Russian Hunting and its successors. The films became great successes in Russia. The former led the national charts of the most successful films for years. The film Kukuschka - The Cuckoo from 2002 received a total of 17 awards and 5 nominations at various international film festivals.
