Alexandra Filonenko

Alexandra Filonenko (* 1972 in Donetsk , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian composer living in Germany.

Life

Alexandra Filonenko's father Boris Isaakovitch Plon was a football coach and educator, her mother Natalia Grigorieva Filonenko was a singer. Filonenko started playing the piano at the age of three and began composing at the age of five. In 1984 the family moved to Moscow.

From 1986-1991 Filoinenko studied at the Ippolitov-Iwanov Music School in Moscow and received composition lessons from Vladimir Tarnpolski. She graduated with honors as a musicologist. From 1991 to 1996 she studied at the Moscow Conservatory PI Tchajkovski in Edison Wassilijevitch Denissov's composition class. In 1996 she moved to Germany with her family and completed a postgraduate course in 1998. Her first CD Nackt was released in 2016, and the opera Noumen in 2018 . Alexandra Filonenko is a freelance composer and lives in Berlin.

reception

The Swiss radio and television describes Filonenko's compositions as "floating sounds, iridescent segments and scraps of sound" would be characteristic of her work and "transparent sound carpets open wide, seemingly endless landscapes".
