Alexandra Manzei

Alexandra Manzei (* 1964 ) is a German sociologist.

Life

From 1982 to 1996 she completed her training and worked as a nurse in the areas of trauma surgery / intensive care medicine. From 1990 to 1996 she studied sociology and philosophy in Frankfurt am Main . From 1997 to 1999 she was a PhD scholarship holder at the DFG Research Training Group Technology and Society at TU Darmstadt . From 1999 to 2001 she was the coordinator of the Graduate School Technology and Society in the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences at the Technical University of Darmstadt. After receiving his doctorate in 2002 as Dr. phil. In Darmstadt she was a research assistant at the Institute for Theology and Social Ethics of the Technical University of Darmstadt from 2002 to 2004 . In the 2007 summer semester she was visiting professor for philosophy of science at the Department of Philosophy and Educational Science at the University of Vienna . From 2005 to 2008 she headed the DFG project: Knowledge from experience in technologized medicine. An ethnographic study in intensive care medicine at the Institute for Sociology at the TU Berlin . In 2009 she worked as a freelance expert and consultant in the health sector (knowledge and technology management in medicine and nursing) as well as lecturer at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin , department of nursing management. From 2009 to 2011 she was visiting professor for general sociologist with a focus on technology, medicine and health at the Institute for Sociology at the Technical University of Darmstadt. From 2011 to 2014 she held the chair for methodology and qualitative methods in nursing and health sciences at the PTH Vallendar . Since 2014 she has been teaching as a professor for sociology with a focus on health sociology at the University of Augsburg .

Her work focuses on science and technology research, bio and medical ethics from a sociological perspective, body and gender research and methodology of bodily communication.
