Shehu I cabinet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Shehu I Cabinet was a government of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania , formed on July 23, 1954 by Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu of the Labor Party of Albania PPSh (Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë) . It replaced the Hoxha V cabinet and remained in office until June 21, 1958, after which it was replaced by the Shehu II cabinet .

After the parliamentary elections on May 30, 1954, there was also a government reshuffle.

With the transfer of the office of Prime Minister from Enver Hoxha to Mehmet Shehu, the consolidation of all important state offices in one person came to an end. This unbundling of state and party offices followed the Soviet example, where collective leadership was propagated after Stalin's death (March 5, 1953). Hoxha remained First Secretary of the Central Committee and thus the most powerful man in the state.
