Behar Shtylla

Behar Shtylla (* 1918 in Korça , † 1994 in Tirana ) was an Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania .

biography

During the Second World War from 1942 to 1944 he took part in the communist anti-fascist war of independence . After the founding of the People's Republic of Albania, he entered the diplomatic service and was temporarily from 1950 to 1952 envoy in France and then in Italy .

On July 24, 1953, Shtylla was appointed Foreign Minister to succeed Enver Hoxha in his government and also held this position in the subsequent governments of Mehmet Shehu until he was replaced by the former Vice Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Nesti Nase on 18 March 1966. In 1954 he was elected for the first time as a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) and was a member of this as a representative for the Durrës district and then the Berat district from the third to the end of the ninth electoral term in 1982.

In April 1957, he was part of a delegation on a state visit to the Soviet Union dealing with Albanian-Soviet relations, along with Enver Hoxha, Mehmet Shehu, Gogo Nushi , Xhafer Spahiu , Ramiz Alia , Spiro Koleka and Rita Marko . In addition, he also represented the political stance of the Albanian leadership towards other states and political ideologies internationally, as in September 1957 in a speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations on the foreign and security policy goals of Yugoslavia .

After he had previously been a candidate, he became a member of the party's Central Committee (ZK) at the 4th party congress of the PPSh in February 1961 .

In a telegram dated December 2, 1961 to the Secretary of State of North Vietnam , Ung Van Khiem , he expressed his concerns about the development of the situation in Vietnam and the fear that US President John F. Kennedy would establish a base in South Vietnam for aggression against North Vietnam and Laos . During this time he was President of the People's Assembly from January 13, 1969 to 1970 .

In 1973 he was appointed ambassador to the People's Republic of China. He held this position until he was replaced by Janus Mersini in October 1979.

In 1997, a biography he wrote about the politician and cleric Fan Noli appeared under the title Fan Noli, siç e kam njohur. Kujtime .
