biography

After attending the French Lyceum in Korça, Theodhosi studied chemistry at the University of Lyon and the University of Liège . During his studies, he came into contact with French - speaking anti-fascist student groups of the Parti communiste français (PCF). After returning to Albania, he became involved in the anti-fascist movement and took part in the Spanish Civil War in 1936 . In April 1939 he was one of the organizers of a student protest in Grenoble against the growing fascism in Albania. This resulted in an appeal to the French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier and the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to support Albania.

On November 8, 1941 Theodhosi was one of the 200 founding members Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë . During the Second World War he took part as a partisan from 1942 to 1944 in the communist anti-fascist war of independence and organized a party congress in Korça for the resistance movement in May 1944.

He was a member of the 118-person Anti-Fascist Council for National Liberation , which was elected as a transitional parliament by the Përmet Congress in May 1944 and helped the Communists to come to power. Between 1944 and 1947, Koço was commissioner of Kuçova after being appointed by Enver Hoxha . He was then vice minister for public works before he became vice chairman of the State Planning Commission in 1949 and was thus deputy to Nako Spiru . In this capacity, he took part in addition to Enver Hoxha on trips by delegations to the Soviet Union .

In 1950 Theodhosi became a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) and was a member of it from the second legislative period until May 30, 1975. He was also a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PPSh for many years .

In 1954 he was appointed Minister of Industry in the government of Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu , before he became Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers in 1955 and thus Vice Prime Minister.

At the 3rd party congress of the PPSh in June 1956 he was elected as a candidate for the Politburo .

On March 1, 1959, he was appointed chairman of the State Planning Commission in the government of Prime Minister Shehu and held this position until March 18, 1966. At the same time, he was Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers from July 16, 1962 to March 18, 1966. In addition, on January 1, 1965, he succeeded Adil Çarçani as Minister of Industry and held this office until October 30, 1974.

In November 1971 he was elected a member of the Politburo of the PPSh at the 6th Party Congress and lost this office almost four years later when he was dismissed in September 1975.

After redesigning the responsibilities of the ministries, he was Minister for Industry and Mining in the Shehu government from October 30, 1974 to September 1, 1975.

After his dismissal in September 1975, Pali Miska succeeded him both as a member of the Politburo of the PPSh and as Minister for Industry and Mining. He himself was arrested at the instigation of Interior Minister Kadri Hazbiu , who was also the chief officer of the Sigurimi secret service .

Reason for his dismissal were errors in the construction of the hydroelectric plant of Fierza and the steel combine near Elbasan . Another important reason for his disempowerment was the accusation of a military-economic conspiracy, to whom, in addition to him, Defense Minister General Beqir Balluku , the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces ( Forcat e Armatosura të Shqipëri-së ) General Petrit Dume , the head of the Main Political Administration of the Armed Forces General Hito Çako , Deputy Prime Minister Abdyl Këllezi , Lipe Nashi and others fell victim, as well as the allegation of too close proximity to the Soviet Union, the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China Zhou Enlai and Yugoslavia .

In 1977 he was sentenced to death and then executed .

His son Arben Theodhosi was studying painting when his father was arrested. He was interned and had to do forced labor in the copper mine for fifteen years . Today he works as a painter and has had several exhibitions abroad.
