Alexandra Marinescu (born March 19, 1982 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

She started gymnastics at the age of nine and trained with the national youth team in Bucharest. Later she moved to Deva to train with the national team of active players. In 1995, Marinescu took part in the World Championships for the first time . In Sabae she became world champion with the Romanian team. She was also fourth on the uneven bars and the balance beam.

At the 1996 World Championships , Marinescu won the silver medal on the balance beam behind Russian Dina Kotschetkowa . In the same year, Marinescu took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, where she won the bronze medal with the Romanian team behind the USA and Russia. She also achieved eighth place on the balance beam. Actually, Marinescu should not have participated in the Olympic Games because the minimum age at that time was 15 years. However, the year of her birth was manipulated by the Romanian delegation.

In 1997, Marinescu was again world champion with the Romanian team at the world championships in Lausanne and she was sixth on the uneven bars. In 1998 she took part in the American Cup and then had to end her active career because of scoliosis. In 2002 a book was published in which she denounced the mistreatment in training Romanian gymnasts.
