Alexandre Garbell
Alexandre Garbell , called Sascha (* May 1903 in Riga ; † December 31, 1970 in Paris ), was a French painter of Lithuanian origin of the Nouvelle École de Paris .
Live and act
Garbell first painted in the figurative style and then switched to abstract painting . He was characterized by the interplay of bright surfaces with complicated light-dark contrasts. From 1958 he dealt with simplified, expressionist landscapes. His most common motifs include the wide beaches of Normandy , the narrow streets of Naples and the Parisian market halls . In the last years of his life he painted large arrangements of flowers with chromatic color and harmonious surface structure.
