The polka was created during Johann Strauss' second trip to Russia in 1857 and was premiered in Pawlosk. The exact date of the premiere can no longer be determined. The first performance was probably sometime in June 1857. The work was dedicated to the singer Alexandrine Schröder, who was obviously friends with Strauss. More detailed background to the singer and her acquaintance with Strauss are not known. In Vienna, the polka was first performed on November 18, 1857 in the Zum Zeisig pub and on November 22 in the Volksgarten .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is exactly 5 minutes. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
