Parque Natural Obô do Príncipe (English: Obô Natural Park of Príncipe) is a natural park in São Tomé and Príncipe . It extends over the southern part of the island of Príncipe and has a small exclave in the northern part of the island. It covers an area of ​​85 km². It was founded in 2006 and together with the Parque Natural Obô de São Tomé it forms the main protected area of the island. 2012, the island was in the list of UNESCO - Biosphere Reserves added.

Overall, the park covers around two thirds of the island's area. The volcanic massif of the Cameroon Line rises to a height of 928  m . The pristine rainforests are precious for research and there are diverse forest and plant communities.

Flora and fauna

One of the noteworthy plants is the evergreen conifer Afrocarpus mannii . Orchids, ferns and mosses are also common. Important animal species are the frogs Phrynobatrachus dispar , Leptopelis palmatus , the skink Feylinia polylepis , the blind snake Typhlops elegans , and the butterfly species Agrotera albalis . A subspecies of the shrew Crocidura poensis is also endemic . 28 bird species have been identified, several of which are endemic and four of which are rare worldwide. Are worth mentioning the birds Prinzendrossling (Dohrn's thrush-babbler - Horizorhinus dohrni ) Príncipezwergfischer (Principe Kingfisher - Alcedo nais ), Prinz Glanzstar ( Lamprotornis ornatus ) and the Principe throttle (Principe thrush - Turdus xanthorhynchus ) and the Gray Parrot ( Psittacus Erithacus ).
