Alexandru Cuedan (born September 26, 1910 in Arad , Austria-Hungary , † May 9, 1976 ) was a Romanian football player . He played a total of 75 games in the Divizia A .

Career

Cuedan came to CFR Bucharest (later Rapid ) in 1933 , which was playing in Divizia A at the time . If the club was still fighting relegation at the beginning, it became one of the best clubs in the country. In the first few years Cuedan had a regular place in the team, later he was only used irregularly. While there were two runners-up titles from the 1936/37 and 1937/38 seasons in the championship , he was able to win the Romanian Cup three times with his team. After he had only been used three times in the 1938/39 season , he left Rapid for Olympia Bucharest . With the outbreak of World War II , Cuedan had to end his career in 1940. He later ran a season for Griviţa CFR Bucharest in Divizia B on.

National team

Cuedan played four games for the Romanian national team . First he was appointed to the Romanian squad for the World Cup in Italy by national coach Josef Uridil in May 1934 without having previously played an international match. In the only tournament game against Czechoslovakia , however, he was not used. After the tournament, it was more than a year before he made his debut in the first game of the 1935 Balkan Cup on June 17, 1935 . He was used in all three tournament games and finished the competition with his team in last place. On September 1, 1935 he was used for the last time in the friendly against Sweden , which was lost 7-1.
