Alexandru Fronea (born November 15, 1933 in Bucharest , † April 10, 2013 in Ploieşti ) was a Romanian football player . The defender played an international match for his country in 1960 .

Athletic career

Fronea initially played for Sivicultorul Bucharest , Metalul Bucharest , Progresul Brăila and Carpați Sinaia . From 1957 he ran for FC Petrolul Ploieşti , which was called Energia Ploieşti at the beginning of his career there . In 1958 he won with the club thanks to the better goal quotient compared to the same point competitor CCA Bucharest for the first time the championship title of the country, which was defended the following year with one point ahead of Dinamo Bucharest . During the successful period of his club, Fronea's only international match was when he was part of the qualifying for the European Championship in 1960 in the quarter-final second leg against the later third-placed Czechoslovakia in the 3-0 defeat in Bratislava .

At the end of her career, Fronea moved in 1965 to the then second division team Metalul Târgovişte .
