Alexandyr Boshinov
Alexandyr Nikolow Boshinow ( Bulgarian Александър Николов Божинов ; born February 24, 1878 in Swishtov , † September 30, 1968 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian painter.
Life
Boshinow graduated from the Sofia Painting School in 1902 to study painting. From 1902 to 1904 he continued his studies in Munich . He was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .
He is considered the founder of modern Bulgarian caricature . His work was diverse. In addition to political caricatures, which dealt critically with the Bulgarian monarchy and politics, he also made many portrait caricatures of Bulgarian actors, writers and painters. He illustrated books, designed carpets and designed ceramic vessels. In addition, he worked as a set designer and made landscape and genre pictures. He has also written feature articles, art reviews and humorous poems.
