Alfio Grasso

Alfio Grasso (born September 8, 1912 in Lentini ) was an Italian jazz and entertainment musician ( guitar , also violin , tenor saxophone ).

Grasso, who was influenced by Django Reinhardt , founded a tango orchestra with his brother Rosso in 1929. He also played in Rome in 1932 with Herb Flemming in Carlini's Reunion Band (" After You've Gone " / " Sweet Georgia Brown "). During the war years he worked in the German Reich a . a. in the studio orchestras under the direction of Tullio Mobiglia (“A sweet melody” / “Oh, Marie! Oh, Marie!”), Meg Tevelian , Helmut Zacharias (“It was always so nice with you”, Odeon), Benny de Weille and Cesari Galli . During this time, Grasso performed with his own formations in Berlin bars such as Patria; he worked in Germany until the late 1940s. In the field of jazz he was involved in 14 recording sessions between 1932 and 1962, most recently in Rome with his own sextet.
