Alfons Stadelmann

Alfons Stadelmann (born March 12, 1921 in Alberschwende ; † September 12, 1996 in Dornbirn ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and locksmith. From 1964 to 1984 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Stadelmann attended the Alberschwende elementary school between 1927 and 1935 and subsequently worked as a shepherd boy in Swabia and Switzerland as well as in agriculture. In 1939 he began an apprenticeship as a locksmith, which he had to interrupt in the spring due to his military service in World War II. Between 1944 and 1945 he continued his apprenticeship. In 1945 he became a locksmith at the mechanical engineering company Schelling & Co. in Schwarzach and rose to head of department in 1950. He continued his education through courses between 1959 and 1960 at the Catholic Social Academy in Vienna and was retired in 1981.

Politics and functions

In addition to his job, Stadelmann was a member of the trade union for a long time and was chairman of the works council from 1949 to 1951 and from 1957 to 1975. He was also a member of the ÖGB state executive in Vorarlberg, from 1958 a member of the state management of the metalworkers' union and from 1957 to 1974 a member of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor. In terms of local politics, he was a member of the Dornbirn municipal council from May 7, 1960 to May 5, 1975, and from April 30, 1970, as a city councilor, he led the schools and kindergartens and spatial planning departments.

Alfons Stadelmann was sworn in on October 29, 1964 as a member of the Feldkirch constituency in the Vorarlberg state parliament, of which he was a member until November 5, 1984. From 1969, however, he was a member of the Dornbirn constituency . From 1960 he belonged to the Austrian People's Party and the ÖAAB , where he was a member of the regional group board and the regional presidium of the ÖAAB Vorarlberg and from 1978 chairman of the ÖAAB local group Dornbirn. In the ÖVP he held the function of a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1964 to 1989, and from 1964 to 1969 he was a member of the state party council.

Private

Stadelmann was the son of a carpenter and married Herlinde Winsauer in 1962. He was the father of two daughters and a son, born between 1964 and 1971.
