Alfonso Caycedo
Alfonso Caycedo (born November 19, 1932 in Bogotá , Colombia , † September 11, 2017 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish psychiatrist and the founder of sophrology .
Life
Born in Colombia to Spanish parents of Basque origin, Caycedo completed his school days there and then studied medicine in Madrid, Spain, specializing in neurology and psychiatry. He dealt with the medical application of hypnosis , met Ludwig Binswanger and founded sophrology, a relaxation technique, around 1960, then professor of psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine in Barcelona and director of the psychosomatic department of the University Clinic in Barcelona own needs should be worked with the consciousness .
