Alfonso Cossa

Alfonso Cossa (born November 3, 1833 in Milan , † October 23, 1902 in Turin ) was an Italian chemist .

Career

He studied at the Collegio Borromeo in Pavia , where he in 1857 with a dissertation on the history of electrochemistry Dr. med. received his doctorate . In 1860 he became assistant for general chemistry, in 1861 professor and director of the Instituto Tecnico.

In 1873 he became director of the Stazione Agraria in Turin and in 1883 professor of inorganic chemistry at the industrial museum. From 1887 he was a lecturer in mineral chemistry at the engineering school and director of the agricultural research institute.

He became a member of the Comitte Geol. Of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome, the Academy in Turin, the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin and President of the Accademia Albertina in Turin.
