Alfred Becker (politician)

Alfred Becker (born January 11, 1930 in Hilhaben ; † 1995 ) was a German CDU politician and member of the state parliament in Saarland .

Life

Becker attended elementary school and then did an apprenticeship as a surveyor at the Merzig land registry. From 1966 to 1970 he worked in the regional tax office in Saarbrücken , in 1970 he moved into the Saarland state parliament, of which he was a member until 1990. In addition, from 1964 to 1979 he was a member of the district council of the Merzig-Wadern district and a member of the municipal council of his home town Orscholz (1968–1973) and, after the regional reform, of the Mettlach municipal council (1974–1994). He was a member of the regional board of the CDU Saar and was deputy district chairman of the CDU district association Merzig-Wadern.

On January 7, 1991 Becker was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit.

Becker died in 1995 of complications from a stroke. In 1998 a street in Orscholz was named after Becker. Becker's grandson is tennis professional Benjamin Becker and his nephew is German radio host Tom Becker .
