Alfred Haufek

Alfred Haufek (born May 31, 1933 in Ruders ; † October 9, 2014 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1979 to 1994 he was a member of the state parliament of Lower Austria and from 1987 to 1994 its second president.

Life

Haufek attended elementary and secondary school and then worked as a metal worker. In 1956 he entered the service of the Chamber of Labor in Lower Austria and between 1957 and 1960 he was the regional chairman of the youth union.

He died on October 9, 2014 at the age of 81 after an extended hospital stay.

In his home town of Heidenreichstein , Haufek was active as a local councilor from 1960, he was elected vice mayor in 1965, and between 1966 and 1991 he held the office of mayor. From 1987 to 1995, Haufek was also regional chairman of the Association of Socialist Municipal Representatives and Vice President of the Austrian Association of Municipalities . He represented the SPÖ Lower Austria between April 19, 1979 and December 15, 1994 in the state parliament and from December 1, 1987 he was the second president of the Lower Austrian state parliament.
