Alfred Isaac

Alfred Isaac (born July 12, 1888 in Cologne ; died June 9, 1956 in Nuremberg ) was a German economist .

Life

Isaac came from an old Jewish family in Cologne. He completed his habilitation in 1926 at the University of Frankfurt am Main with Fritz Schmidt (business economist) . A year later he came to the Nuremberg University of Economics and Social Sciences as an associate professor and in 1928 he became a full professor as the second Jewish full professor of business administration in Germany. After a leave of absence in 1933, he had to leave the university on June 1, 1934 for racist reasons, although he was a soldier at the front. In 1937 he emigrated to Turkey with official approval from the German authorities, where he received the only professorship for business administration at Istanbul University . He also acted as a government advisor. In 1950 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Göttingen , from 1952 he worked again in Nuremberg until his death on June 9, 1956.

He was co-editor of the magazine for business administration . A street in the Herpersdorf district of Nuremberg is named after him.
