Alfred Janke (born July 24, 1928 ) is a former German football player who was active in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football, in 1959 and 1960 for BSG Chemie Zeitz .

Athletic career

For the company sports community (BSG) Chemie Zeitz, Alfred Janke played his first seven point games during the 1952/53 season in the second-rate GDR league , in which he already scored his first three goals. In 1953/54 he was a regular player for Zeitzer with 25 appearances in 26 league games and scored seven goals. He scored most goals of his career in higher-class football in the 1954/55 season with nine goals in 24 point games. In 1956, GDR football was switched to the calendar year rhythm, and this time Janke was only used 15 times in the 26 point games, he remained without scoring. In 1957, once in his GDR league time, he played all 26 championship games. In the 1958 season, Chemie Zeitz was promoted to the GDR league. Three game days before the end of the season, Janke suffered a broken thigh, but contributed to the success with 22 appearances and four goals as a midfielder. But he never really recovered from his injury. Therefore, he only made four appearances in the Zeitzer's two league seasons. After the 1960 season, Alfred Janke resigned from top football. In his eight seasons between 1952 and 1960 he had come to 123 GDR league and league games and scored 26 goals.
