Alfred Leverkus

Alfred Wilhelm Leverkus (born April 5, 1873 in Leverkusen ; † in the 20th century) was a German chemical entrepreneur.

Life

Alfred Leverkus was born as the son of the chemical entrepreneur Karl Wilhelm Emil Leverkus (1845–1925) and grandson of the chemical entrepreneur and namesake of the city of Leverkusen Carl Leverkus . After attending high school in Cologne-Mülheim , he studied at the universities of Bonn and Munich . In Bonn he became a member of the Corps Palatia in 1894 .

After completing his studies, he gained his first professional experience in domestic and foreign industrial companies. After he had done his military service as a one-year volunteer, he joined the United Ultramarinfabriken AG vorm in 1900 as director and board member . Leverkus, Zeltner and Consorten . During the same period in which he was managing the company, he acquired the ultramarine factory in Duisburg in 1906 and sold the Leverkusen plant founded by his grandfather to Friedr. Bayer & Co. , which took place in several steps and was completed in 1917.
