Alfred Olivet

Alfred Etienne Olivet (born April 24, 1863 in Geneva ; † May 3, 1942 there ) was a Swiss architect .

Live and act

Nothing further is reported about Olivet's training, the son of an entrepreneur, in Geneva. It is known that as a young man he was involved in the planning of the building of the waterworks and the quay in Geneva. Travels took him to the United States, France and Italy.

From 1912 he took part in various competitions with Alexandre Camoletti , for example for the Geneva Natural History Museum and the Geneva Palace of Justice. He built hotels in Aix-les-Bains and Annecy, and he received orders to renovate luxury hotels in Geneva. Also in Geneva, he created today's Uniprix department store ( SA Galeries Modernes-Grand Bazar de Geneve ) in 1914 , the Hygiene Institute in 1915 and the Forensic Medicine Institute in 1919.

In addition to his work as an architect, Olivet has written specialist articles for newspapers and magazines.
