Eunice is a city (with the status " City ") in St. Landry Parish , and to a lesser extent in Acadia Parish in US -amerikanischen State Louisiana . In 2010 Eunice had 10,398 inhabitants.
history
The sheriff and later US Marshal CC Duson founded Crowley with his brother in 1887 . To the north of it he founded another place, which was then named after his wife, Eunice Pharr Duson. He won the company Southern Pacific Transportation to connect the two places by rail.
In 2000 there was a serious freight train accident in Eunice on this route, so that around 3,500 of the around 11,500 inhabitants had to be evacuated for around five days. In 2004 the responsible Union Pacific Railroad paid $ 65 million in compensation for this.
Infrastructure
There are three schools in Eunice. There is a museum of Cajun music which is also actively played on site.
