Alfred Pungg (born October 1, 1955 in Schwaz , Tyrol ) is a former Austrian ski jumper .

Career

He belonged to the young Austrian guard around Toni Innauer , Karl Schnabl , Alois Lipburger , Willi Pürstl and Edi Federer , which rose to the world's elite in the mid-1970s. He celebrated his best results after the 1976 Olympic Games, when he was able to achieve 2nd place in Sapporo and Kuopio. At the beginning of the 1976/77 season he finished 9th overall in the Four Hills Tournament, in the 3-Country Tour and in the Swiss Springer Tour he was able to assert himself in 2nd place. In preparation for the winter of 77/78 he suffered serious injuries that forced him to retire early.
