Career

Alfred Radke comes from Berlin. After finishing school, he first learned to be a carpenter. After trying several sports as a teenager, after joining the Berlin police service, he decided to go shooting. When choosing the disciplines within the shooting sport, he chose the rapid fire pistol. His achievements with this weapon, with which he shot both individual and team competitions, meant that he was soon used in international competitions. At the 1974 World Championships in Thun in shooting with the rapid fire pistol, he achieved first place with 50 shots over 25 meters and thus became world champion in this discipline and winner of the gold medal.

At the same world championships in Thun he also fought in the same discipline in the team and was also world champion in the line-up of Radke, Werner Beier and Helmut Seeger .

At the 1982 World Championships in Caracas, he won a bronze medal in the individual. Finally, he finished sixth at the 1984 Olympic Games with 590 points.

For his sporting achievements he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Walter Scheel .
