Alfred Schneider , also known as Captain Schneider or Lord of the 100 lions (* 23. June 1876 in Neuselerhausen ; † 23. December 1941 in Dahlewitz ), was a German Lion Tamer .
Schneider was a civil engineer by profession , first appeared as a cycling artist, but then decided to work with lions . He bred his own group of 60 animals. Later had to tailor his circus to bankruptcy sign, but did not work with a remaining stock and occur at fairs. Schneider was characterized by his trusting interaction and direct physical contact with the animals and spoke to them in a slightly saxon . Schneider was attacked by his animals in 1941 and succumbed to his injuries a few days later. His grave is located as the honor grave of the city of Berlin in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
