Conrad Alfred Thieme (born May 2, 1830 in Leipzig ; † April 2, 1906 there ) was a major German industrialist , consul general and art collector .

Alfred Thieme was the son of the Leipzig banker Conrad Friedrich August Thieme. He was a personally liable partner in the company CF Weithas successor, iron, sheet metal and girder wholesaler . Thieme was President of the Leipzig Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1890 to 1896 .

Thieme was considered one of the richest men in Saxony. In the years 1874 to 1876 he had a representative villa built in Weststrasse (today Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse) by the Leipzig architect Arwed Roßbach . In 1886 he donated 66 Dutch paintings from his collection to the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig. A second, even more valuable collection, which he assembled, was acquired by the Leipzig Museum in 1916.

From 1891 to 1901 he was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament , appointed by the king .

His sons were the publisher Georg Thieme (1860–1925) and the art historian Ulrich Thieme (1865–1922).
