The Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce represents the overall interests of around 67,000 chamber-affiliated companies in the Leipzig Chamber of Commerce (City of Leipzig, District of North Saxony, District of Leipzig). The IHK is the first point of contact for industry, construction and agriculture, trade, transport and logistics, services as well as gastronomy and tourism in all company situations, from foundation to expansion and crisis management to succession planning. It is committed to a healthy and sustainable economic area and therefore sees itself not only as a practice-oriented company service provider, but also as a critical partner in politics.

As a public corporation, the Leipzig Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in addition to representing commercial interests and voluntary service tasks, performs mandatory public tasks. This includes, among other things, the organization and monitoring of vocational (training) including examinations.

The work of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce is determined by the general assembly, the "entrepreneurial parliament" democratically elected by the members. It decides on questions that are of fundamental importance for the chamber's commercial economy. This is done in order to promote the economy as a whole and to take account of the economic interests of individual branches of industry in a balanced manner.
