Alfred Weichselberger

Alfred Weichselberger (born April 7, 1919 in Drumling ; † November 10, 2009 ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( SPÖ ). From 1953 to 1977 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

education and profession

Alfred Weichselberger was born as the son of the farmer Josef Weiselberger from Drumling. He attended elementary school in Drumling and subsequently graduated from the Pinkafeld Citizens' School and the agricultural advanced training school in Schlaining. Weichselberger then worked as a farmer, taking over his parents' business in 1953. Weichselberger served in the German Wehrmacht between 1939 and 1945 and from 1944, after being seriously wounded, spent a long hospital stay and convalescence. In 1970 Weichselberger was appointed economics councilor.

politics

Weichselberger joined the SPÖ in 1945 and was a councilor in Drumling. In 1952 he took over the function of a member of the supervisory board of Kurbad-Tatzmannsdorf AG and between 1959 and 1975 was deputy chairman of the Austrian workers' association. Weichselberger also held the office of regional chairman of the socialist labor farmers between 1962 and 1986 and was chamber councilor from 1958 and third president of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture between 1962 and 1974 and between 1977 and 1985. Weichselberger was a member of the Burgenland Landtag between March 19, 1953 and October 27, 1977.
