Alfred von Zeerleder

Alfred von Zeerleder (born March 22, 1890 in Bern , † October 2, 1976 in Küsnacht ) was a Swiss metallurgist.

From 1909 to 1911 he studied mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich . After an internship at Brown, Boveri & Cie in Baden (BBC), he turned to studying electrochemistry, chemistry and metallurgy at the Royal University of Aachen, where he received his doctorate in 1916. In 1920 he took up his position in the test laboratory of the Aluminum-Industrie Actiengesellschaft (AIAG) in Neuhausen am Rheinfall (later: Research Institute FI). Until 1955 he was director of this research institute.

On April 13, 1930, the Federal Council awarded him the title of professor, whereupon he was appointed to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) by letter of April 29, 1930. Until 1957 he was an associate professor for light metals and electrometallurgy at the ETH Zurich .
