Alfredo Bevilacqua
Alfredo Antonio Bevilacqua (born February 20, 1874 in Buenos Aires , † July 1, 1942 there ) was an Argentine tango composer and pianist.
Live and act
The son of the pianist Isidro Bevilacqua first had guitar lessons, then piano lessons with Ángel Ratti and Brunetti Abnicari . In the 1890s he played the piano in the Bar El pasatiempo and in the Salon María, la Vasca . In 1902 he wrote his first Tango Venus , which he recorded on phonograph cylinders with his own band .
In 1910 he composed the Tango Independencia for the 100th anniversary of Argentina's independence and performed it with his band. He dedicated the Republic of Chile to the Tango Emancipación on the 100th anniversary of independence in the same year .
Bevilacqua is one of the most important representatives of the Guardia Vieja of Tango. Recordings of several of his compositions exist from the time they were composed, others have been lost. He also published a volume of sonnets and the Escuela de Tango . His son Octávio Bevilacqua became known as a musicologist.
