Alfredo Boccolini
Alfredo Boccolini (born December 29, 1885 in La Spezia , † February 5, 1956 in Viadana ) was an Italian actor .
Life
Boccolini, who comes from a seafaring family, worked as a machinist on a warship himself at the age of 16 and then switched to the merchant fleet. Boccolini, who is 1.90 m tall and 110 kg and is in excellent condition, caught the eye of a theater director who hired him for a circus in Germany, where he worked as a trapeze artist , on the slingshot and as a tamer.
During World War I he served in the Italian Navy. In 1917 he was anchored in Genoa when the film director Augusto Genina hired him for the role of the muscular sailor “Galaor” in the film Il siluramento dell'Oceania because of his appearance . In the years that followed, Boccolini developed this heroic figure into his trademark and rarely got the opportunity to escape this cliché; in La nave after Gabriele D'Annunzio the role of “Marco Gràtico” offered such a role, but due to the crisis in Italian cinema, Boccolini continued his career in Austria and Germany and in the usual role. So he turned out to be the ideal cast for Samson in Alexander Korda's Samson and Delila .
After his return to Italy and the introduction of talkies , his career quickly came to an end; Directors no longer wanted to cast him. His filmography shows only two appearances in 1939 and 1941. He earned his living with performances in the "Avanspettacolo", a typical Italian mixture of variety , musical and sketches. He also appeared in secondary venues like village squares, breaking chains and lifting tractors. In film, he only had the status of an extra .
Boccolini was married to Emma Savani for the second time . He died of a heart attack.
