Alfredo Jones Brown

Alfredo Jones Brown (* 1876 in Montevideo , † 1950 in Punta del Este ) was a Uruguayan architect .

The son of Enrique Agustín Jones de Elía and Natividad Brown Blanco (a descendant of Guillermo Browns ) was a graduate of the Universidad de la República in Montevideo. His most important work is the building of the Instituto Alfredo Vázquez Acevedo (IAVA) inaugurated in 1911 . The Edificio Rex, located in Montevideo on Avenida 18 de Julio opposite Plaza Fabini, dates from 1928. He was also responsible for the building of the German school in Montevideo in Avenida General José de San Martín y Vilardebó .

Jones Brown was married twice. With his first wife María Elena Caissiols , he had two sons named Alfredo and Enrique. His second wife was Josefa Odriozola , the mother of his son Guillermo.
