The Plaza Fabini , also known as Plaza Ing. Juan P. Fabini or Plaza del Entrevero , is a place in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

Plaza Fabini is located on Avenida 18 de Julio, which is the center of the city, four blocks east of Plaza Independencia in Barrio Centro . From this square, bounded by Colonia, which runs parallel to Avenida 18 de Julio and laterally by the streets Julio Herrera y Obes and Rio Negro , another important street of Montevideo, Avenida Libertador , branches off in the northeast direction , which leads in the direction of the Palacio Legislativo . The latter, like the entire Avenida, can be seen or overlooked from there. The name of the Plaza Fabini, for whose construction Emilio J. Massobrio and the Dirección de Paseos Públicos of the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo were responsible, borrows from the engineer and politician Juan Pedro Fabini , in whose honor it was built in 1964. In the vernacular, however, the name Plaza del Entrevero is often used in reference to the bronze sculpture Monumento El Entrevero , created by José Belloni in 1967 and located in the middle of the fountain there . In 1994 the square was redesigned, for which Juan Perazzo was responsible. The tent structures introduced in 1997 go back to Rafael Lorente Mourelle .

Below the square is the Centro Municipal de Exposiciones "Subte" , in which various art exhibitions take place. Opposite the square on the south side is the Edificio Rex with the Sala Zitarrosa, which opened on November 3, 1999 . This building served as a cinema until the early 1980s.
