Algirdas Sysas (born March 5, 1954 in Vilnius , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian social democratic politician , deputy chairman of the Seimas . Before that he was a trade unionist .

Life

From 1961 to 1969 Sysas studied at the Naujoji Vilnia Middle School and Antanas Vienuolis Middle School in Vilnius, from 1969 to 1973 at the Politechnikum Vilnius and in 1982 graduated from the Vilniaus universitetas in economics . From 1973 to 1976 Sysas served in the Soviet Army . From 1976 to 1982 he was a worker at "Vilma". He later headed several unions.

Sysas has been a member of Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija , LSDP council member since 2005 . From 2015 he was deputy party chairman of the LSDP , deputy of Algirdas Butkevičius .

From 1995 to 1997 and from 2000 to 2001 Sysas was a member of the Vilnius City Council . In 1996, 2000 and 2004 he was elected to the Seimas parliament. Since November 2012 he has been deputy chairman of the Seimas.
