Ali Krasniqi

Ali Krasniqi (* 1952 in Crkvena Vodica near Obilić as Alija Krasnići ) is a Kosovar writer, poet and activist.

Life

Krasniqi studied as a guest student in Obiliq Jura and has published more than 40 books. It was important to him that these always appeared in several languages, Romani , Serbian , Albanian and English . He writes in several literary genres. In addition to prose and poetry , he also published children's books and dramas . He also works as a translator from Serbo-Croatian to Romani.

He gained fame at the beginning of the Kosovo crisis as a Roma activist . In 1999, like tens of thousands of other Roma, he lost property and home. He and his family initially hid in a basement for three months before they found accommodation in a refugee camp in Kragujevac (Serbia-Montenegro).
