Ali Sabieh ( Arabic علي صبيح, DMG ʿAlī Ṣabīḥ ) is the second largest city in Djibouti . It is located about 75 km southwest of Djibouti City , the capital of the country, and 10 km north of the border with Ethiopia . Its estimated 23,000 inhabitants are mostly Issa - Somali . Ali Sabieh is the capital of the Ali Sabieh region .
history
The place gained importance in the early 20th century when the railroad line from Addis Ababa to Djibouti City was built. Ali Sabieh is the most important station on the section between Dire Dawa and Djibouti, and it also has an airfield. Because of its proximity to the Ethiopian border, traders and caravans stop in Ali Sabieh.

Ali Sabieh is located in a valley in the southern part of the country. The city is located in a mountainous area, in a closed valley of the highlands. It is located at an altitude of 756 meters above sea level. Ali Sabieh is a mountainous and hilly city. Due to this altitude, Ali Sabieh and the surrounding area have a milder climate than the cities on the coast.
