Alice Graschtat

Alice Graschtat (born January 16, 1952 in Polier , Northeim district ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2003 to 2008 she was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . She is divorced and has two children.

education and profession

After obtaining the secondary school leaving certificate, Graschtat trained for the higher administrative service from 1967 to 1972. She then worked for the Weser-Ems district government until her election to the state parliament .

politics

Graschtat has been a member of the SPD since 1969. She has been a councilor and alderman for the city of Osnabrück since 1986, including several years as deputy chairwoman. From 1991 to 2003 she was chairman of the local SPD parliamentary group. In 2003 she was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list. In the state elections in 2008 she was in 53rd place on the state list, which was not enough for a return to parliament. She lost the fight for a direct mandate in the Osnabrück-Ost constituency against Anette Meyer zu Strohen (CDU). After the election defeat, Alice Graschtat returned to the national service; Today she works for the Lower Saxony State School Authority in Osnabrück.

In addition to her party membership, Graschtat is a member of ver.di , the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , Amnesty International , the Free Humanists and VfL Osnabrück .
