Alice Pantermüller

Alice Pantermüller (born July 9, 1968 in Flensburg ) is a German children's book author .

Life

Alice Pantermüller was born on July 9, 1968 as the first of two daughters who both filled exercise books with stories during their primary school years. Nevertheless, at that time she was not sure whether she should become a “book writer” or a teacher.

After graduating from high school in 1988 at the old grammar school in Flensburg , she then decided to study to become a teacher. She studied German, art and history for teaching at elementary and secondary schools at the PH Flensburg (now the European University of Flensburg ). She then spent a year as a German foreign language assistant in Ayr , Scotland, where she supported German teaching at two Scottish comprehensive schools. After her return and the first months of the second training phase, however, she stepped back from teaching and instead completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller .

The author has lived with her husband and two sons in the Celle district in Lower Saxony since 2000 .

Writing career

At the end of 2009 Alice Pantermüller took part in a writing competition organized by Arena Verlag Würzburg, a literary agency and Münchner Merkur . We were looking for “novels of all kinds” for readers between ten and fourteen years of age. Around 200 authors submitted texts, including Pantermüller. She originally wrote her manuscript “Island of the Dinosaurs” only for her two sons. But it emerged as the winner of the competition. It was published in January 2011 by Arena Verlag under the title “Bendix Brodersen - fearful rabbits do not experience any adventure”.

Since then, Alice Pantermüller has become known primarily through her series “Mein Lotta-Leben”, in which ten-year-old Lotta reports in humorous diaries richly illustrated by the illustrator Daniela Kohl about her life as a “totally untalented” student with “two idiots” .
