Alicenhof

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alicenhof is an estate in Großharras in Lower Austria .

The partly heavily swamped area around Zwingendorf was previously used intensively for fish farming, but in the 19th century pond farming was given up in favor of arable farming. From Johann Maximilian Eugen zu Hardegg on Glatz and in the Machlande (1842-1919), whose wife and daughter were called Alice , the Vorwerk Alicenhof was built, like the goods Karlhof, Maxhof, Kadolzer Hof, Parkhof, Oberhof and Kammersdorfer Hof The Hardeggs owned land around Seefeld Castle . In contrast to the others, it is still somewhat original and consists of living quarters, spacious stables and ancillary buildings. Today it is part of the Hardegg estate management , one of the largest agricultural operations in Austria, and, although largely devastated, is still inhabited.

In 1984 a burial ground with around 20 graves was cut at the Alicenhof in the course of earthworks, which can be classified as the transition from the Neolithic to the Jevišovice culture and which were excavated in 2000.
