Alicia Villarreal , with full name Martha Alicia Villarreal Esparza and also known as La Güerita Consentida (born August 31, 1971 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ), is a Mexican ranchera singer.

career

At a young age, Alicia Villarreal performed in various bands that played at parties and weddings. Her musical breakthrough came after she founded the Grupo Límite together with Sergio Ponce and Gerardo Padilla . With the Grupo Límite she recorded a total of seven albums and had great success with songs such as Te Aprovechas , Yo Sin Tu Amor , El Príncipe , Sentimientos , Esto que Siento , Adorable Ladrón , Alma Rebelde , Capricho Loco and Veneno . During their live performances, the group filled the great halls in Mexico and other countries on the American continent.

After separating from Grupo Límite, Alicia Villarreal began a solo career in which further successes emerged. Her first solo album Soy lo Prohibido (2003) sold more than 600,000 copies. In her entire career, Alicia Villarreal (including her time as lead singer of Grupo Límite) has sold more than ten million albums.

Alicia Villarreal won several prizes with both Grupo Límite and as a solo artist, such as the Latin Grammy twice for the albums Por encima de todo (2001, with Grupo Límite) and Cuando el corazón se cruza (2004, as a solo artist).
