Alienware is a Dell- owned manufacturer of PC systems that are specially tailored to the needs of computer game consumers and their hardware requirements.

Products

Alienware products are identified by a stylized Alien head.

Alienware sees itself as a quality provider and operates a high price policy and mostly uses components from well-known manufacturers. Many criticize the price-performance ratio , since the PCs are available from other retailers at far lower prices apart from the cases. Alienware has built the image of a Nobel PC dealer through careful workmanship. The PCs could only be purchased via the Dell or Alienware website until December 2009 , when an Alienware PC appeared at Media Markt for the first time . In addition to high-performance game PCs, media center PCs and gaming notebooks are also part of the product range.

Since the purchase by Dell there are new cases, one for MicroATX and one for ATX . It is the first time that the cases of the Aurora and Area 51 computer series have differed from each other.

history

The company was founded in 1996 by Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila in the United States . The company headquarters are in Miami (USA) and the European headquarters in Ireland . From the beginning, Alienware focused on the gaming area and was extremely popular in this area despite its location in the high-price segment. On March 23, 2006 it was announced that Alienware was bought by Dell , but will continue to operate under its own name.

The newly designed housing is part of the current portfolio of the manufacturer and offers the option of installing up to two powerful graphics cards in addition to a Z170 chip set (socket 1151) and the latest Intel Skylake processors of the sixth generation. Thanks to a swiveling power supply unit and various mechanisms specially designed for the device, it is also possible to make extensive upgrades or changes to the hardware without the use of tools. The AlienFX lighting system works, a selection of interfaces and the option of installing up to five SSDs in 2.5 "format. The available graphics cards range from entry-level models such as the Nvidia Geforce GTX 950 to the Nvidia GTX 1080 model and thus enable partly the use of virtual reality hardware.

alpha

  • Based on the idea of Valve's Steammachines, Alienware released the first Alienware Alpha R1 in late 2014. The device has compact dimensions (comparable to game consoles) and at the same time has high system performance. While the first version of Alpha still had to make do with a classic magnetic hard disk, fourth generation Intel processors and a modified Geforce GTX 860M (2GB VRAM), the second revision "Alpha R2" has now implemented Intel Skylake processors (socket 1151, Intel Core i5-6400T, Intel Core i7-6700T), an additional M.2 SSD slot and a fast graphics card from the desktop area (GTX 960, 4 GB VRAM).
