Alin Albu-Schäffer

Alin Albu-Schäffer (born October 20, 1968 in Timișoara , Romania ) is a German robotics scientist and since 2012 director of the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at the German Aerospace Center in Oberpfaffenhofen .

In addition to the head of the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at the DLR, he holds the chair for Sensor-Based Robot Systems and Intelligent Assistance Systems in the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

After studying electrical engineering at the Timișoara Polytechnic University in Romania, Albu-Schäffer received his doctorate in 2002 from the Technical University of Munich . He has been working at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) since 1995. In 2012 he was appointed professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and at the same time took over the post of Director of the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at DLR. At the Technical University of Munich he is currently on leave to manage the institute at DLR, but still teaches to a lesser extent at the Technical University and heads a small robotics research group there.
