Alkistis Protopsalti ( Greek Άλκηστις Πρωτοψάλτη , born October 18, 1954 in Alexandria as Alkistis Sevasti Attikiouzel, Greek Άλκηστις Σεβαστή Αττικιουζέλ ) is a Greek singer . In 2015 she was Deputy Minister of Tourism of Greece in the Thanou-Christofilou transitional cabinet .

Career

She had her musical breakthrough with the LP Kykloforo Ki Oploforo (Κυκλοφορώ κι οπλοφορώ) in 1985, at the same time her first collaboration with the composer Stamatis Kraounakis and the lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou . In 1991 the album Paradechtika (Παραδέχτηκα) was created from the music of Goran Bregović and Greek texts by Lina Nikolakopoulou . San Ifestio Pou Xypna (Σαν ηφαίστειο που ξυπνά; German: Like a volcano that awakens ; 1997) was the first collaboration between Alkistis Protopsalti and Lina Nikolakopoulou and the composer Nikos Antypas .

Alkistis Protopsalti performed with other singers in 2004 at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2011 she played a key role in the musical framework program for the Special Olympics in Athens. Besides Greece she gave concerts in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Israel, the Netherlands and the USA.

Since November 2013 she has performed in a series of concerts with Eleftheria Arvanitaki in Greece. In May 2014 her album Thea Paradisou (Θέα Παραδείσου) with music by Nikos Antypas was released by Heaven Music.

On August 28, 2015, she was appointed Deputy Minister of Tourism in the cabinet of the Thanou-Christofilou transitional government. She held the office until September 23, 2015 and is non-party.
