reception

According to Julien Aunos, who discussed the album in Cititen Jazz, the musicians together offered raw and direct music, sometimes wild, then more subdued. It is worth highlighting the three pieces in a quartet, "Elements", "Void of Ground" and "All Things Are", in which the four musicians showed a good understanding and a healthy economy of resources, as well as "Well Spring" wonderful duo exchange between Mitchell and Shipp.

Tim Niland (Jazz and Blues Blogspot) noted that this was "a wonderful and overdue encounter" between Matthew Shipp and Nicole Mitchell; let it be a masterful session that demonstrates the unique symmetry of this group of musicians.
