The Allan Tarn is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The lake lies south of Coniston Water , whose outflow the River Crake forms both its only tributary and its only drain.
The lake is mentioned as Octupus Lagoon in Arthur Ransome 's children's book series Swallows and Amazons .
