The River Crake is a 9.5 km long river in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .
The Crake drains Lake Coniston Water at its southern end and flows into the River Leven at Greenodd just before it flows into Morecambe Bay .
In the 19th century, a number of factories settled on the river that used the water to power machines. There was a cotton mill and an iron foundry . Until the 1970s, Spark Bridge had a turning shop that made wooden spindles for the Lancashire spinning mills . Today there are no remains of the farms on the river.
The River Crake is known for salmon living in it.
