Allen Curnow

Allen Curnow (born June 17, 1911 in Timaru , New Zealand ; † September 23, 2001 ) was a New Zealand writer and journalist who achieved international fame primarily through his poems. He was awarded the important Commonwealth Poetry Prize (1988) and Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry (1989), among others .
