The Allen Point is the southeast headland of Montagu Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It marks the southeast boundary of the entrance to Phyllis Bay .
Montagu Island was discovered as early as 1775 during the Second South Sea voyage (1772–1775) of the British navigator and explorer James Cook , but the cape is only shown in the maps of the German-Baltic Antarctic explorer Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen made between 1819 and 1820 . A geodetic survey was carried out in 1930 by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations . They named the cape after HT Allen, Secretary of the Colonial Service and member of the Discovery Committee .
